Between the Pipes is a fun tournament. We encourage everyone to play safe, respect other players, volunteers, and officials, and always remember: we’re in this to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
In 2016, we introduced recreation and competitive divisions. Here’s how to know which your team is best suited for:
If you and/or your teammates have played spongee before: you’re in the competitive division
If you and/or your teammates have spongee shoes: you’re in the competitive division
If you and/or your teammates have played hockey before : you’re in the competitive division
Catch the drift?
We have a handful of players and teams who don’t have any experience playing spongee – some even without any hockey experience – and we want them to have a fun day too. If you fall into this category, you’re in the rec division.
We love seeing you all come together to have a good time as we raise money for a great cause. Coed teams are strongly encouraged, and we invite everyone – 18+ – of any ability to come play!
We’re hoping to raise $5,000 this year and need your help!
Between the Pipes is back for its 4th round. Every year 100% of the event proceeds support the Heart and Stroke Foundation – so far we’ve raised over $22,000.
For over 60 years, the Heart & Stroke Foundation has been dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. The work has saved thousands of lives and improved the lives of millions of others. Healthy lives free of heart disease and stroke. Together we will make it happen.
Join us February 24, and donate, register a team, or volunteer at the event.
Thanks for visiting! Between the Pipes will be on hiatus for 2017 due to planning and time constraints. Sending love and thanks to those who continue to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please do consider making a donation this year, even though the tournament will not occur. I would like to thank all the teams, volunteers, and sponsors for all the support over the past three years. See you back on the ice in 2018!
On Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Norwood Community Centre, over 160 players, volunteers, and spectators participated in Between the Pipes. This year was by far our biggest and best tournament. We watched 18 teams play through the day and had the support of 50 volunteers. We can’t thank you enough!
What an AMAZING day for sponge hockey! Thank you to all the participants, volunteers, sponsors, and special guests who made this year’s event the biggest and best tournament yet. I couldn’t be happier with how the day went or to hear you all enjoyed the day.
Stay tuned for our donation announcement, photos, video and more! *Thank you to Blush Birch Photography for the fantastic photos.
